How To Stay Healthy During Your Move

Note: At Fairprice Movers, we are moving professionals, not medical professionals. Consult with your doctor if you are feeling unwell or you are immunocompromised.

Times are a little scary right now. People are hunkering down in isolation out of fear of the very real pandemic. Offices are closing, events are being cancelled, but for many people, calling off a move is out of the question. After researching the subject, we’ve found some of the best advice on how to stay healthy during your move.

Wash your hands

Hand washing is the first piece of advice you hear from medical professionals, but when should you wash your hands? If you are near running water, wash your hands both before and after going to the bathroom, so if you touch anything in the bathroom, you won’t have to wipe it down. Wash your hands after coughing or sneezing, or after touching something that others have touched. Our movers will do the same.

Take your shoes off at the door

In most other countries, it’s customary to remove shoes at the door. It’s not as common here, but it will help keep germs at the door. Our movers will go a step further, and wear shoe covering.

Take care of yourself

Now, more than ever, is the time to eat right and exercise to keep your immune system strong. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies where you can. If not, frozen or canned are just fine. Big batches of veggie packed hot dishes like soups are a great way to extend the lives of fresh vegetables. If you are able to buy a lot at a time, you can freeze most vegetables.

Now may not be the best time to go to the gym, but you can still exercise outside or workout at home with videos.

A final note…what Fairprice Movers will do to protect you

If one of our movers has any symptoms, they will be sent home. As mentioned earlier, our movers will wear shoe covers and they will wash their hands regularly. They will also stay at least 6 feet from you the entire time they’re working for you.

Of course, the other option is to reschedule your move, if you can. Unfortunately, many don’t have that option.
